Comparing Babies...

Here is Parker at 4 months (as of tomorrow) and Lil at 5 months. I have the same walker, and Parker started sitting in it yesterday. To be honest, I don't think they look anything alike. What do you think? Maybe the same nose, but the eyes are definietly different. I do have to add, Parker is about the same size NOW as Lil was around 7 or 8 months. Check out those chunky cheeks! I thought he had alot of hair, but I forgot she has needed a hairbow since she was 3 months!

Tomorrow, I'll try to remember to do Parker's four month post. So much exciting stuff has been happening-well, exciting in baby land, that's for sure!

LilyBell-you can just tell by these photos what a happy and cheerful baby she was! Also, her hair was so dark, but it has been dirty blonde since she was one.

Parker P-still testing the waters, but I think he likes it so far! He looks alot like a Mahaffey in these pictures.

Obligatory Pumpkin Patch Photo Shoot

We took the kiddos to the pumpkin patch this past Sunday. Daddy was off work, and we were excited to get out. The weather was warm and awesome. I only got one good picture of Parker. He slept most of the time, and I wasn't about to mess up a good thing.

Then we took our pumpkins to Shane's parent's house and carved one of them. I can't wait to bake the seeds. Yummm... It was a great day!

In other exciting news, Parker has been trying out his Bumbo. He is really confused and tilts sideways, but hopefully he'll get the hang of it. I also took his picture in his rocking chair, and I realized that he is such a big boy now. Four months next week, I can't believe it!

Better Blogging

Whew, I totally use this blog to complain! I'm worried if Parker ever reads this when he's older, he's going to think he was the worst thing there ever was. I guess it's easy to remember how tired you are and how much your head hurts when you're exhausted and typing out a quick post. I really must add that Parker makes funny faces that make me laugh, rolls from tummy to back and back to tummy, is the best breastfeeder there ever was, and sat in his Bumbo chair successfully today!

So... Mahaffey family update, on a positive note (no mention of teeth. Starting...now!)

* I attended Lily's first school conference with her teacher on Tuesday. Overall, she is doing really well. She is grasping all the concepts and for the MOST part, behaving. Lily has her moments...she is super dramatic and I think she still pretty much has the mentality that the world revolves around her. I remember being that way when I was little. But, she seems to be doing well. She's already learned a ton and we're starting on sight words very soon.

** I'm Lily's room mom this year. Wow, what a job. My first project is helping out with the Fall Festival. I'm trying to find parent volunteers to work our booth so I don't have to be there the WHOLE time. I'm hoping things will coordinate. It seems like a lot of work, but I think I need to get in the swing of things.

*** Lily's tee ball team is undefeated! We have a game tomorrow and possibly two makeups. They are some hardcore little ball players. These kids hit homeruns and everything. Well, Lily still prefers snack, flirting, and the dirt, but she is improving alot. She has made two AWESOME plays this year, and she has been hitting without the tee on occasion.

**** Parker attended his first Braves game. I have never seen the stadium that crowded; it was a sea of tomahawks. It was awesome. Of course I forgot my camera. They lost, and now, they are out of the playoffs, but it sure was fun!

I can't think of anything else. Have a happy weekend!

A Little Vampire

To be honest, I've been too busy to blog/too lazy to do so when I finally have down time. It's funny how days seemed SO long and boring when I was preggo, but now I look up and two hours have gone by with little accomplished!

Parker has officially been TEETHING. I'm not sure if I mentioned that in my last post. Yes, a three month old teething. It has been a rough experience to say the least. I've purchased Hyland's teething tablets, a teething ring, Infant Tylenol, you name it. I didn't jump the gun though, he had all the signs. He was drooling constantly, trying to put EVERYTHING in his mouth, you name it. My boobs have been chew toys for him. Sorry if that's TMI, but it is so true. He's been so ill, feverish, and grumpy! But, yesterday I saw the two tiny white buds, so I really hope we're going to get out of this soon.

I really did think that three months was that magic stage where babies become less newborn and more interactive and happy and like real little people. Parker definietly is like that 50% of the time. He laughs, talks, and is starting to grab for things. He's holding his head up like a pro! The Bumbo seat is in our near future, as well as some homemade baby food! But, there are those times where he is so ill and fussy that I'm floored and don't know what to do. It's practice, it's practice! Only 19 teeth to go after this! Hopefully I'll get a picture of the tooth to post soon. I'll leave with some recent cute pictures of my kiddos...most of them are from the ball park, which is where I spend 75% of my time!

We're Walking on Eggshells!

Parker cried for the first three hours of his life. He was very vocal. I heard him down the hall while I was in recovery. Maybe this should have been a hint.
My little boy has had a seriously intense weekend. He has been so ill and fussy. He's totally stopped sleeping through the night, and he has been waking up twice to eat and fuss, usually around midnight and three a.m. Even worse, he hardly wanted to nurse today and screamed when I tried to get him to latch on. He seemed to prefer a bottle! I was devastated. That little traitor! When he's not crying, he's usually in his swing, and we are careful to avoid eye contact or talk too loudly, for this seems to make him madder.

Parker mean mugging his momma:

I don't think its gas, and he won't turn three months til Tuesday, so I feel like it's really early for teeth to come in. And no fever. What is up? I finally got him to nurse around eight, and he dozed off. I'm hoping this bottle thing is just a phase. I'm going to hold off on them for a few days. I would hate to have to exclusively pump for the next ten months, but I would definietly do that before I would give him formula...so we will see.

We fondly remembered how good Lily was as a baby, and she was smug for a good portion of the afternoon.
Angel:
Oh jeez:

Maybe Parker's just showing us his true colors. He has already proved to be an intense baby. But this is HARDCORE.

Waiting on Fall

I've been slacking in the blog area! Mostly because I don't always know what to type, as things pretty much stay the same. Everything has been going great-we've been super busy with the usual-school, ball, children, etc. Lily is on Fall Break this week, so I'm trying to find things to do. Mostly, we are still recovering from this past crazy weekend. My aunt and uncle came to town for two days. We went to a bazillion restaraunts and to the Aquarium and the park and my mom's house. It was a blast. Everytime they leave, I always want to move to the Cape. Hopefully someday we will. I think I could even convince Shane. Sunday was Lily's sixth birthday-I can't believe it. She is such a big girl now, and we had an amazing time. It always touches my heart the friends and family who come from all over to share her special day with her. It really means the world. We went to the park and cooked hotdogs, had a pinata, opened presents, and ate cake.

I also got my hair done by my friend at Van Michael in Buckhead yesterday, and it was a nice escape. What else... my dad is in town Wednesday to celebrate Lily's birthday, and I am also meeting up with long lost overdue friends. I can't wait.

Parker is doing so great-he has been sleeping through the night for the most part. One more month and I know we're going to be starting cereal. He is so so ready. He is almost rolling over. He holds his head up for long periods of time just great. He cooes, babbles, drools, smiles, and laughs. He's a joy!

I just got a gym membership, so I really need to bust it to knock out another 10 pounds.

Now we're just waiting on fall. Please leave heat! Please!

Not ME!

Working out and dieting has been going great (well, not eating big bowls of ice cream like Shane and Lily hasn't been exactly great, but I have been surviving.) That being said, I cheat all the time. I've still been seeing results, but I'm totally ready to take it to the next level. I'm getting closer to my pre-pregnancy weight, but my body just looks different. Almost 10 weeks postpartum, and my jeans still are super snug.

So...while breastfeeding, I still have to EAT, and eat meals, not a few baby carrots and a diet coke. Starting Monday, I have a few new rules for myself. If I don't post them on here, or say them outloud, it's like I haven't made it official. So here goes ( I love a good list!):

1. Eat more salads/veggies/fruit
...Duh, I know, I know. Salads are so yummy, and I'm wondering why I don't make more for myself or order them when we go out to eat. I ordered a grilled chicken salad at Texas Roadhouse on Sunday, and it was delish! I definietly think I can enjoy that just as much as a steak and mashed potatoes. Sort of. Plus, I read somewhere that cucumbers are an awesome thing to snack on, and tomatoes and watermelon are great when you're trying to get healthy.

2. No more alcohol during the week.
I hope I don't sound like a total lush. When I was preggo with P, I never drank. At all. Before then, well, sometimes it was like, party at my house!! Haha. But I digress. Since I've been pumping, I carefully time it so that I can have a drink here and there. Thus, that here and there may be on a tiresome Monday or a boring Thursday. But, I think that's more of a special priveledge, and it needs to be reserved for weekends only. Who needs all those extra calories anyway?

3. Walk faster! I need to start walking with more speed! Heart rate up, sweat, the whole nine yards. Enough said!

4. Do my stretches and other exercizes. I need to be keeping up with my plank pose, my leg lifts, and my crunches. Those are easy to forget.

Here is the plank pose: (hold as long as you can)

5. More water-I need this for breastfeeding, but I always forget about water. I don't know why...speaking of which, I need to limit myself to ONE diet soda a day too. For myself and for baby P.

Most importantly, I think I need to say, GET HEALTHY insead of GET SKINNY. I want to be thin of course, but I REALLY want to be healthy and set good examples for my kids (probably stop buying Lily chocolate ice cream, right?)

I'll keep you posted!

Yikes:

Two month checkup

Parker's two month birthday came and went Saturday. We had to get up bright and early for Lily's scrimmage, but Lily and I celebrated by taking him to Dunkin Donuts and letting Lily pick out a donut. At least, that's what she decided.

Other than that, not a whole lot is new- we're waist deep in school, tee ball, Shane's softball games, and trying to have fun! We've been to the lake twice, we visited a new church, we've been going out to eat, and Mom even bought some new clothes. Oh, and we're about to redo the bathroom. I can't wait to see how it looks.

Today, I took Parker to his two month checkup. Forgive me for this boring post, I just want to make sure I get all his stats and what not so I remember them in the future. Pregnancy brain has now turned into mommy brain, and I forget pretty much everything in the world. Good thing I can't leave my boobs at home; otherwise, Parker might not eat!

Parker was 12 pounds, 5 ounces, putting him in the 70%, and he was 23 inches long, also in the 70%. He got three shots! It was extremely sad. But he seems ok. He's just chilling in his swing right now. We'll go back again in November for three more shots.

Parker smiles, talks, and even laughs. He is the sweetest thing ever, and he really is alot less fussy than he used to be. He usually goes to sleep around 9 pm, and wakes up at 4 or 430 to eat. Then, he'll go back to sleep til about 7, so we have seriously come a super long way. Life is good!
